Recipe for the perfect lavaliere pendant: leafy gold details, a buttercup-set diamond, the sweetest seed pearls and a drop of romance! The lavaliere style pendant was made popular and named for the Duchesse de la Vallière, a mistress of Louis XIV of France, and refers to a drop pendant. Today we refer specifically to the Art Nouveau style drop pendants we see from the late Victorian and early Edwardian periods. They are beautiful for their petite size and intricate, delicate detailing, and this one is no exception with its lustrous natural pearls and buttercup-set diamond shining and sparkling throughout.
